HISPANIC OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY INITIATIVE PROGRAM


The North Ward Center has collaborated with Essex County and State agencies to provide outreach services to Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) clients.  Most of the clients are of Hispanic descent. The North Ward Center is able to provide parallel services to the bilingual population.

Did you know that you may be eligible to receive services such as child care, medical assistance, and other services even though you no longer receive Temporary Assistance to Needy Families?   A special funding service grant through the State of New Jersey, Division of Family Development, allows you to contact us to discuss other services that you can take advantage of even though you do not currently receive cash assistance.

WE WOULD LIKE TO HELP YOU RECEIVE SERVICES THAT MAY HELP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY BUILD A BRIGHTER FUTURE.  

The following benefits are available to POST-TANF recipients and you may be eligible:

·        CHILD SUPPORT – Child Support Probation Unit and County Welfare assists with paternity establishment, location, services, and support order establishment.

·        CHILD CARE for up to 24 months if employed (co-payment may be required).

·        TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE – Assistance with travel costs to and from work may be available for up to 7 months, with co-pay during the last 3 months.

·        MEDICAID HEALTH BENEFITS based on income for up to 2 years.

·        NJ KID CARE- a low and moderate income health insurance for children under the Age of 19 who are not eligible for Medicaid.

·        FOOD STAMPS – must verify household income, composition and expenses; Food stamp income affects food stamp allotment.

·        LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

·        CAV – Career Advancement Voucher Program- To advance in your career!
